POW may be a small charity but we stretch ourselves as far as we can to reach as many people in the Nottingham area as possible. We run a number of funded and pilot projects to support vulnerable people within Nottingham City and County. These include:
- Drop-In Open 2 days per week open to anyone involved in, or affected by sex work
- Specialist Clinics Working with partner agencies to provide vital healthcare support
- Outreach Sessions Evening sessions to support on street workers 3 times a week
- Off-street Working with anyone in the sex industry who works in any off-street venue, including online
- STEP (Safeguarding against Trafficking and Exploitation Project) Previously known as RAiSE, STEP helps to raise awareness and support children and young people affected by, or at risk of, exploitation
- Progression Working with men and women to gain qualifications, engage with the wider community, access resources, prepare for employment and help with day to day living and empowerment
- Police Liaison Providing information and support to sex workers who have experienced violence and abuse, ensuring they are aware of their reporting option, and safety planning
- Crisis Intervention Providing intensive, short-term support to sex workers who are experiencing crisis in their day-to-day life
- Changing Futures Our Specialist Women’s Navigator provides intensive one-to-one support to women experiencing severe and multiple disadvantage
- C Card A confidential service providing free condoms, lube and sexual advice to people aged 13-24 years old in Nottingham City.
In addition, we are piloting projects around reaching out and being more inclusive of issues sometimes overlapping, or directly related to, the sex industry or exploitation including:
- Student sex workers, including those who work online and over many social media platforms
- LGBTQ+ community
- Issues around modern day slavery within our local community
- Researching emerging trends within industries and those affected by sex work or exploitation to better meet needs and support people
