According to recent studies up to 1 in 10 students in the UK have exchanged a form of sexual service for money, mainly to help with the cost of rising tuition fees and the cost of living. If you are a student who works within the adult industry on any format, POW can support you in a number of free and confidential ways including:
- Free and confidential sexual health screening and advice
- Advice on online safety and advertising
- Safety tips around online sex work
- Debt and benefit advice
- Incident reporting
- Emotional wellbeing, support and befriending
- Harm minimisation supplies (condoms, lubricant, sponges etc.)
We hold a specialist clinic in conjunction with The Health Shop on the first Monday of every month at POW to provide free and confidential sexual health services for students who are working in the adult industry. This can include escorting, stripping, webcamming, sugarbaby, only fans, patreons, out calls or other forms of exchange. Currently on hold due to COVID
If you are a sex worker and a student at Nottingham Trent University of the University of Nottingham get in touch with POW through our Instagram for confidential support. If you would like to get in contact with us directly please e-mail us: firstname.lastname@example.org to speak with Sarah about anything you may need.
We understand that many students who sex work are not confident to reach out for support. Here is a useful Youtube video from NUM about student sex work so you know your rights and how to get support if you need it.
If you are an academic or somebody who works in Higher Education, please read through the information on the Student Sex Work Research Hub on how to support students.
